Editor’s Letter: Ukrainian Vogue presents the spring print issue of 2025

Vogue Ukraine Edition No. 9 is published with the slogan "From Ukraine with love". The spring issue is dedicated to young domestic talents in the fields of fashion and culture, whose names are making waves in the country and the world.

Last September, a 19-year-old model from the Odesa region Vika Parmakova debuted at Prada show in Milan. For a newcomer walking this show is equivalent to being cast in a Christopher Nolan movie – it's a ticket to the big league. Later, we saw Vika at the Loewe show in Paris. She was joined by 18-year-old Karyna Mazyar from Zhytomyr who also walked the show. Vogue Ukraine readers know Karyna from the now historical cover shot by the British photographer Brett Lloyd in wartime Kyiv a year ago. Brett chose her among the dozens of young Ukrainian models for his portfolio. His instincts were right.

A new generation of Ukrainian models is taking international catwalks by storm. In the Spring-Summer round of shows, Maziar opened Versace and walked for Saint Laurent and Louis Vuitton. At Miu Miu she was accompanied by another casting directors’ favorite, 22-year-old Yura Romanyuk from Kherson. The show is traditionally scheduled on the last day of Paris Fashion Week. As the season wrapped up, we at Vogue Ukraine knew who would star on our Spring cover.

Our team in Kyiv, Warsaw, Vienna, and Paris put this idea to life, managing to bring models together in early February. For two days, German photographer Julia Noni and Paris-based stylist Celia Moutawahid shot in the studio and on the streets of the French capital, a place that welcomed young Ukrainian models and is ready to make them stars.

This is to illustrate the vast pool of talent that is involved in every issue of Vogue Ukraine. With their invaluable contributions, we make a magazine that tells Ukrainians about the world. It also tells the world about Ukraine.
