SCENE BY SUZY: Oscar at home – with jewels
Tables inspired by New York's Botanical garden
Oscar De la Renta has collaborated with the New York Botanical Garden on a table-ware collection
Apple blossom, gardenias, magnolias and peonies – all served up on a plate for Oscar de la Renta table wear. That was the story – well half of it – when the American designer's shop on London's Mount Street showed off colourful new collections this week.

Kirat Young, the Indian-born designer, who was picked out by Yves Saint Laurent as his first multi-cultural model, also displayed the latest in her five-year-strong range of jewels for Oscar.

Inspirations from across the world, including peacock feathers or chandelier earrings added to the sense of the exotic – a fitting mix with Oscar's Marrakesh-style slippers and purses.

But the night also belonged to Carolina Irving, Creative Director of Oscar de la Renta home. Her melanges of sea blue and grass green garden flowers brought a merry, summer feel to the flower filled tables.

The chic of the night award went to interior designer Allegra Hicks, wearing a russet Art Nouveau patterned pants suit – a vintage find in Los Angeles designed by English 1960's designer Mary Quant. It was a perfect blend with the carved wood salad bowls and leopard patterned wine glasses.

Mount Street continues to be London fashion's hot property with Designer Roksanda Ilincic opening her store there this week.
