The cover of the new edition of Vogue Ukraine Edition is graced by the captivating work of a 31-year-old photographer from Yalta (Crimea, Ukraine), Anna Brudnaya.
The model in the photo is wearing clothes from the Ukrainian brand Gunia Project. This look was created specifically for the Vogue Ukraine Showcase — a project to popularise Ukrainian fashion and culture worldwide — and was presented to the international public as part of the official Paris Fashion Week schedule at the beginning of March. Gunia Project's ceramic outfit symbolises the connection of times and attempts to actualise our identity.
The summer issue of Vogue Ukraine Edition celebrates self-discovery and the myriad of female experiences and archetypes. While working on the issue, the editors invited an international team of photographers and stylists to share their vision of modern femininity. Shot in Paris, Great Britain, and Kyiv, these photo stories tell about an autonomous view of sexuality, self-perception, and new canons of corporeality.
The summer issue of Vogue Ukraine Edition is dedicated to identity and, in particular, to studying modern femininity. To do this in the best possible way, we embarked on a fascinating visual experiment. All the prominent shootings this time were done by female teams.
Next to them on the magazine pages are the stories of our contemporaries about women's experience in the conditions of the complex Ukrainian present. The author's essay, written by Iryna Slavinska, is devoted to this topic.
In an interview, the Crimean Tatar singer Jamala shares why she decided to give birth to a child in wartime Kyiv (the historic Vogue portrait of Jamala was taken a month before the birth of her third son, Alim).
The writer Sofia Andrukhovych discusses the work of the new novel "Catananche", about the relationship between men and women and stereotypical ideas about female sexuality.
Designer Lilia Litkovska, who made an international name for her ability to juggle men's and women's sartorial codes, talks about her professional debut in Tokyo and life in two cities – Paris and Kyiv.
Honouring Vogue's tremendous photographic tradition, the summer issue contains a portfolio dedicated to Ukrainian athletes. Yan Vasyuchnyk's photo shoot presents portraits of domestic sports stars and debutants of this year's Olympics in Paris.
Next to sabre player Olga Kharlan, wrestler Yan Belenyuk, gymnast Oleg Vernyaev, judoka Daria Bilodid and tennis player Marta Kostyuk – new names (members of the Olympic team of Ukraine in rhythmic gymnastics, diver Oleksiy Sereda, gymnast Taisia Onofriychuk) and paraathletes: jumper in length Oksana Zubkovska, swimmers Denys Ostapchenko and Danylo Chufarov, swimmer Anna Gontar.
Along with the new issue of Vogue Ukraine Edition, a beauty application is traditionally released, dedicated to the topic of the influence of emotions on health, beauty, and self-care in the summer season.
The sixth issue of Vogue Ukraine Edition will be published on June 21 and is available for orders on shop.vogue.uа.
